Emergency Dentist in Abu Dhabi: What to Do & Where to Go

A dental emergency does not wait for a convenient time. Whether it is sudden pain, a broken tooth, or a knocked-out tooth knowing what to do in the first few minutes can make a real difference to the outcome. Here is what you need to know.

What Counts as a Dental Emergency?

Not every dental issue needs same-day attention. These do:

– Severe toothache that does not ease with painkillers

– Swelling in the face, jaw, or gums especially with fever

– A knocked-out tooth (time-critical act within 30–60 minutes)

– A cracked or broken tooth with pain or sharp edges

– A lost filling or crown exposing a sensitive tooth

– Bleeding in the mouth that does not stop

– A dental abscess visible swelling with pus, bad taste, or fever

– Trauma to the mouth or jaw from an accident

What to Do First Before You Reach the Clinic

Knocked-Out Tooth

Pick it up by the crown, not the root. Rinse gently without scrubbing. Place it back in the socket if possible, or keep it in milk or between your cheek and gum. Get to a dentist within 30–60 minutes. Speed is everything here.

Severe Pain or Swelling

Do not ignore facial swelling it can escalate quickly. Take an over-the-counter painkiller, apply a cold compress to the outside of your face, and call the clinic immediately. Do not put aspirin directly on the gum.

Broken or Cracked Tooth

Rinse your mouth with warm water. Save any broken pieces. Avoid eating on that side. Sharp edges can be covered temporarily with dental wax from a pharmacy.

Lost Crown or Filling

The tooth is now exposed and sensitive. Avoid hot, cold, and sweet foods. Some pharmacies carry temporary dental cement this can provide short-term protection until your appointment.

Dental Abscess

This is the one you must not leave. An untreated abscess can spread to the jaw, neck, and in rare cases further. If you have facial swelling, fever, or difficulty swallowing alongside tooth pain seek care urgently.
