A 3D cone beam CT scan shows bone density, bone width, nerve positions, and sinus proximity in three dimensions. Without it, a surgeon is essentially placing the implant based on a flat X-ray and guesswork. That increases the risk of nerve damage, poor positioning, and implant failure.
